
Marjory Carolyn (Bugh) Batey, 89, of Deary, died Sunday, June 29, 2025. Marge was born Aug. 28, 1935, to Anna (Fredrickson) Bugh and Ray Bugh in Troy. She graduated from Troy High School in 1952. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary for the Jolly Green Giant Company in Dayton, Wash., where she continued to work until she married the love of her life, Clinton Batey, on Feb. 14, 1955. They celebrated their 70th anniversary Feb. 14, 2025.
Clinton Dale Batey, 90, of Deary, died Thursday, July 3, 2025. Clinton was born Jan. 24, 1935, to Merna (Pierce) Gustin and Mark Gustin in Moscow. He graduated from Deary High School in 1953. Clinton began scaling logs while still in high school and continued working as a logger until his retirement.
While Clinton worked as a logger, Marge spent her time as a homemaker taking care of their four children. In the early 1970s, she was employed by the Whitepine School District as office secretary. She retired after 27 years. She valued the relationships she formed with principals, teachers and students during that time.
Marge and Clinton enjoyed dancing, boating, camping and spending time with their family and friends. They enjoyed watching their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports and attended as many of their extracurricular activities as they could.
Marge and Clinton are survived by their three children: Crystal Stradley (Michael), Brian Batey, Bradley Batey (Suzanne), son-in-law William Dean, seven grandchildren; Kayla Dixon (Evan), Eric Neal (Heather), Richelle Krzyzanowski (Andrew), McKenna Stradley, Danielle Guyer (Steven), Tyler Batey (Jessica), Morgan Pulley (Cody) and eight great-grandchildren; Isaiah, Theo, Tucker, Olivia, Levi, Sam, Callen and Nora and one bonus grandchild, Graham.
They were preceded in death by their daughter, Teresa Dean (William), Marge’s parents, Anna and Ray, Clinton’s parents, Merna and Mark, and their siblings, Raymond, Gerald, Phyllis, Wayne (Marge) and Betty, Leslie, Wanda (Clinton).
There will be a memorial service held at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at the Deary Bible Community Church. A potluck dinner will immediately follow at the Deary Community Center.
